You mean build your own forum software? I started to a few months back. But I have to many other things going on to do it on my own. Stick to addons right now. Move to styles at some point.

I wanted to make one once for phpBB where usernames could be approved for phpBB forums because currently if you allow users to change usernames there's no way to approve it so it shows immediately. Possibly also a username log.

I came up with the idea and that's about how far I got

ProBoards allows that.

On Xenforo I can have it set up so members can change their username and have it either that they need to wait for approval or instantly. I can even change this setting per user group.

XF is awesome software, but I want to give phpBB a try this year, especially as I'm playing with Planet Styles themes.

I love the style I use on PD and if I need an addon to be compatible it doesn't take long for the developer to help.

That MyBB Group forum doesn't look it has to much on it. Maybe I have to be signed in to see more.

Yeah, I'm not impressed with it, but maybe good stuff is on the GitHub.
