Honestly, being an admin is interesting when everything is actually working as you planned, but when there is a problem, that's when it hits you so hard. For me, the hardest part is dealing with unexpected issues like server crashes, users misbehaving, or one bug that refuses to go. 🤣 As an admin, you are always expected to know the solution to every issues very quickly, even if it's something entirely new to you. That pressure is not what we could sidestep..

What’s the hardest part of being an admin?

The hardest part for me is trying to ensure fairness even when users are troublesome. Sometimes, you must ban or warn, but i’m always afraid that I could fear lose active members. Moderating arguments, verifying facts, dealing with trolls are also amongs the challenges in being an admin.

What then do you do when such a member keep breaking the rules set out for the forum? Do you ban or let them continue?

The hardest part is you are also a poster, marketer, and technical guy on your forum. Since a lot of admins are on limited budget, they are doing most of the things themselves, from posting to building members and handling technical issues.

The biggest challenge that I have seen with being a forum admin is having to handle toxic behaviors from users. It is always hard to balance fairness and firmness with conflicts between members that has worsened to hate speech and trolling.

The most challenging part is balancing moderation and member engagement. You have to enforce rules without stifling discussion, handle conflicts calmly, and keep the forum running smoothly, all the while managing your own time and preventing burnout.
