Long exposure to rapid content cycles seems to affect focus, memory recall and emotional regulation in many teens and young people. There have been a lot of studies where youth have reported mental fog, irritability and trouble finishing tasks. How do we tell whether this the result of attention fatigue caused by digital media or symptoms of ADHD? What habits actually can help Gen Z rebuild a stable attention span?

It's a way different world before the net when waits at a hospital or airport could be quite boring without a book or decent TV program going on. I remember these waits as a child, like one time we waited, seems like 4 hours at a Veterans hospital pharmacy.

But now people cannot tolerate any boredom.

This generation thrives on constant stimulation from visual contents. And they have mastered that. They just can't stay for long without that stimulation. And most of them lack the mental fortitude to take control of themselves in the midst of this content stimulation, that's why they can go on and on and on watching TikTok and forgetting about the things they need to do.

That’s a tough one. It’s hard to tell if it’s digital fatigue or ADHD sometimes. I think setting boundaries like screen-free time, regular breaks, and good sleep habits can help rebuild focus.

It is not just gen Z experiencing digital fatigue, it is even affecting gen Y, gen X, and even baby boomers. One common example would be how popular short video content has become. These days people do not have patience, if they cannot be impressed within few seconds, they exit immediately.
