Is monetization your forum strategy, how have you monetized your forum? Well, monetizing forums is one of my important strategies. Even though the most profitable income stream for forum is sponsored posts or membership plans, I haven’t been able to capitalized on these options. I run adsense on my forums. I don’t earn much but I earn enough to pay for basic expenses
I haven’t owned any forum myself so I haven’t monetized through that route. But I can see how running ads like AdSense can help cover basic expenses. It’s a simple way to earn a little extra even if it’s not a huge income.
Monetization is on my cards however, I haven’t monetized my forum yet. I plan to start with AdSense. Once traffic and engagement are strong, I intend to transition to a membership model. That's because I think ads are distractions and membership will generate more stable revenue.
My hosting forum is the only commercial one. It makes money by people posting their hosting company ads on threads and then getting paid boosting for more exposure.
But the forum is very young and hasn't attracted the big number of hosting companies needed, so in that case, I haven't even implemented the commercial thing anyway.
I've been saying this, ads first. Google ads or small banner for local brands. I saw one forum advertising local product last year and it made sense. but don’t overdo it. if every click brings popup, users will run.
Honestly, I think services work better. Like paid sticky posts or promo threads. I paid $3 once to promote a link on one forum and it actually helped. Donations also sound good but people don’t like paying for free things.
Well, if you want to monetize your forum, then you must meet the criteria. Many different advertisement networks have a long list of criteria that you must meet. This is quite important because you need traffic and a well-designed forum that seems attractive. You must have an "about us" page and a "contact us" page as well.
