GeneralHow do I maintain a healthy work-life balance?
To maintain a healthy work balance is a little difficult. Honestly, if care is not taken and you do not create time to set boundaries, work will take a major part of your life. These days I try to switch off my phone by a certain time, even though I fail to do it sometimes.
This situation is challenging, particularly if your job is remote. I make an effort to establish limits like avoiding work emails beyond a set hour or, during weekends. Taking your vacation days seriously is crucial too.
I think one of the best best ways to maintain a balance between your work and personal life is by creating schedules. Set out time where you are focused on your work, and time where you relax or deal with other personal issues.
I always make sure that I start my work tasks on time. I am a employee and any special task I am being assigned to do, I start working on it immediately so that I won't be under pressure to meet datelines and end up having to bring work home to complete. I don't take overtimes, no matter the pay involved.
If you can afford to choose your hours because you're self-employed, and it depends on your financial needs, I recommend living more than you work. Of course, it depends on your financial situation. If you really need the money, it's normal to work more than you live, but once your life is balanced, I recommend working less than you live. This way, you'll have much more peace of mind and live a happier and much less stressed life.
You need to have Positive relationships and social support . you would nedd to build resilience. Having a support network can help you manage your work-life balance and stress levels. This network can include your employer and colleagues.
I try to maintain a healthy work balance by making use of the clock as a reminder. I set alarms to help me pause to rest and have my personal time. This has helped me shuttle between work and rest over the years. I also use my rest period to exercise and bond with friends and family.
