The Wired HubHow Can We Improve Community Engagement?
We need to talk more like humans, not brands. I’ve seen forums where admins actually gist with members and that thing alone keeps people coming back. Even little things like shoutouts or “member of the week” can make people feel noticed. At the end of the day, the community would feel like a family vibe, not a lecture hall.
Sounds like an awesome idea and I do what I can to make people feel welcome, though not what you mentioned. Well, I always respond to introductions with a positive reaction (a waving hello reaction) and then a reply asking about the person's hobbies or whatever else that is friendly, aside from being too nosy.
I think replying to all topics while that is still possible and keeping them going is important.
Onboard new members. Make them feel like they're a part of the community.
Post at least one really interesting discussion on your forum every day. You don't have to post 20 new topics. Just post one really good one that is worth replying to.
You need to reply to topics and in a way that promotes more discussions and reply. Sometimes its just easy to ask, what is that? Despite that you can google it quickly.
In my experience, what actually matters is benefit and value. If the user is not benefiting from the community or not getting any value, they will never bother with it. When I say value, I don't specifically mean incentives, it could also be a service or information.
