Hot Topics/Debates Cost of living Crisis

^ Tell me about it! I wear my coat in the house all winter and keep my thermostat at 62° F because the gas & electric company has passed on the increased costs the government is charging them on to their customers.

I'm buying the cheap store brands whenever possible and sadly have had to stop donating to various charities because I'm having a hard time keeping my head above water these past few years.

I truly believe the government is targeting the middle class for obsolescence.

Yep. It’s ridiculous @Foxy they shouldn’t be getting away with it. These companies don’t care about the people who are struggling to keep a roof over our heads. I worry for the next generation ☹️

The cost of living crisis is putting real pressure on households. Prices for food, housing, and utilities are rising faster than wages, leaving many struggling to keep up. Families cut essentials, savings disappear, and stress rises. Long-term solutions feel uncertain while people just try to stay afloat.

I honestly can not believe just how bad prices have gotten. I found an old receipt a few days ago, from back in 2019. I had kept it as something I bought, I may have needed to take back if I had any issues with it. The prices back then and when I look at the prices now, they have tripled in price.

I would like to say that things could get better soon, but probably not.

This is turning into an issue. Prices for food, housing and fuel are all rising. People are being compelled to have a second look on how they are spending. Now, I have reduced pleasures and concentrated solely on the necessities. My major focus now is basic things like food, shelter and some other essentials.

Yeah, that's the same with me. My own luxuries would be only some used video game consoles and maybe a few musical instruments.

Nowadays, one can't even have savings because the income can't even afford the basic needs sufficiently. One thing is certain. This cost of living crisis would throw many average people financially into poverty.

It's absolutely insane.. Grocery shopping now feels like such a shock every time now. Things that used to cost $3 are suddenly $6 or more. Inflation has hit basic necessities so hard that it's becoming difficult to afford the same lifestyle we had just a few years ago.
