Biography

Lucy Bevan is a British casting director based in London, known for her work across film, television, and theatre. She trained under the late Mary Selway, describing that period as “the finest training I could have wished for.”

Her early career involved working as a runner and then an assistant, before moving into casting. She worked for several years within the casting department, eventually taking a lead casting director role. Her first film credit as a casting director (alongside Mary Selway) was The Libertine (2004), directed by Laurence Dunmore.

Bevan has cast a number of high-profile and genre-diverse films. Her credits include The Duchess (2008), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), 300: Rise of an Empire (2014), Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016), Their Finest (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), Ghost in the Shell (2017), Dolittle (2020), The Batman (2022), Cruella(2021), Belfast (2021), and Barbie (2023).

In addition to her film work, Bevan co-casts large ensemble television projects: one recent example is Masters of the Air(2024), an Apple TV+ series, in which she worked with Olivia Grant, casting over 300 speaking parts.

Her work has earned her nominations and awards in casting categories, for instance, the British Independent Film Award for Best Casting for Belfast (2021).

Bevan is a full member of the Casting Directors’ Guild (UK & Ireland), and her company is “Lucy Bevan Casting.” She works internationally—across the UK, Europe, North America, and others—and her specialism spans theatre, film, and television.
