Is Christopher Nolan’s Approach to Practical Effects Still Sustainable at Blockbuster Scale?

Oppenheimer pushed realism without relying much on VFX. Do you think studios will keep funding this type of production? Which Nolan film shows his best use of practical work? Are audiences expecting something unrealistic from him every time now? What about his up coming film, do you think this project will keep up with his style?

For Interstellar movie, Nolan planted corn. While the scene was great, I don't think that was necessary. I do not think the practical effects on movies can be considered sustainable in the age of visual effects.
