Game of Thrones spin-off prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has unveiled a first-look clip.

The scenes were included in Max's upcoming slate, introducing Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters, Vikings: Valhalla) as the titular knight, Ser Duncan the Tall.

The knight introduces himself at the 1:10 mark in the video above, which also includes images of Dexter Sol Ansell (Emmerdale) as Duncan's squire Egg.

The cast is rounded out by Fargo's Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen, True Detective's Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, The Crown's Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Sex Education's Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Tiny Beautiful Things' Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle.

Based on George RR Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas, the prequel series is set a century before the events of Game of Thrones and follows "two unlikely heroes" – namely "a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg".

"Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends," the synopsis reads.

Martin, who co-wrote the spin-off, teased a shorter ride than Game of Thrones' other spinoff, House of the Dragon.

"The Hedge Knight will be a lot shorter than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, with a much different tone... but it's still Westeros, so no one is truly safe," he noted on his blog.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight will premiere on HBO in 2025. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
