Books & ReadingDo you judge a book by it's opening chapter?
When it comes to reading books, most people would prefer to get drawn into the essence of the book from the very first chapter. And no one can fault that though. The first chapter is supposed to give some motivation to continue reading the book.
So do you judge if a book would be interesting or not by the first chapter?
I do not judge a book by its opening chapter. I have to read the entire book to get the plot, theme, and the convincing emotions that could stir and convince me. I also based my option on the author of the book.
There are books that I did not continue because the first chapter did not captivate me. I don’t like it when I do not feel the vibe in the early stages of reading.
No, I don’t judge a book by its opening chapter. Some stories start slow, build depth gradually, or take a few chapters to introduce the world and characters. I prefer giving a book time to unfold before deciding whether it’s worth continuing. Usually, I completely the book even when I don’t like it.
