In the world that is getting digital more and more everyday, people have moved from just keeping friends in the physical world to building virtual friends. There are people that keep friends online that they have not seen before. And they are actually friends.

But some people still only define friendship by being able to see a person, relate with the person physically and do activities together.

For you as a person, which is easier to build and maintain between online friendships and offline friendships?

Digital friendships come with lower stakes than physical friendships. With digital friendships, all you need to do is to chat and that can be at your convenience. But for physical friendships, you owe them visits. You owe them attendance in their events and you also owe them checking up on them regularly.

For me online friendships are easier to maintain. If you don't like them you can just block them, you do not have to appease them with something. However, it is quite difficult to get away from people in real life and you also have to give them something to stay friends, your time, commitment, etc.
