It's going to be very difficult for someone to say that they have not been disappointed by someone or something since they became adults.

What have been the biggest disappointment you've had and was there any way it would have been prevented?

@Heatman - Well, I am currently struggling with my financial conditions. I have always dreamt about becoming a profitable trader. However, no matter what I do, I always fail to create the right kind of online trading strategy. This disappointed me a lot.

I just do what I can to overcome it.

I was fighting a lot of credit card debt. My dad died, and I got his estate. I was able to pay off a lot of the debt I have because of that. I'd much rather him be alive and me still in debt, but this is life.

I’ve faced a lot of disappointment in my life, and each one was equally hard in its own way. Over time, I’ve learned that accepting the situation, reflecting on what I can control, and focusing on small steps forward helps me cope.

This is exactly what stoicism teaches. You should not try hard to control things you cannot control. You can certainly control your response and actions. However, certain things are simply not under your control. Stoicism is awesome.

Over the years, I know there have been many times I have had to deal with disappointment, and it happens to everyone in time.

The key to dealing with disappointment is to take a step back, realise where you went wrong, and then think about how you can avoid it next time.
