Are Comedy Movies Struggling Because Humor Has Become Too Online?

A lot of jokes today rely on meme culture, but films seem slower to adapt internet trends. Are comedies failing to match the pace of internet humor? What comedy mivue did you watch recently that actually actually made you laugh? Do studios need younger writers, or is the format itself losing impact?

That's true, but it's not because we're online too much; it's because we're in an era where cancellation and censorship are at their peak, so they greatly hinder the creation of very dark and irreverent humor like before. It would be fantastic if that happened again; I hope it does.

I don't remember watching any new comedy movies in the recent times. Most of the comedy movies I am watching are old ones. These days instead of pure comedy movies, they are blending various genres into comedy.

I think so. Comedy now feels like twitter jokes stretched into 2 hours. There are memes everywhere. If you're not online, you won’t get it. I watched one recent comedy and didn’t laugh once. Everything was forced.

Comedy has changed, that’s all and it's because of the internet. The old comedies had simple jokes, now everything is niche. There are still funny stuff out there but you have to search harder. Laughter did not disappear, but the delivery changed.
