A bit of info on Star Trek. Did you watch it?

The perfect show for binge-watching before the concept existed. In its earliest days, this spin-off to Star Trek: The Next Generation felt like the storytelling was going to be by-the-numbers Trek, only on a space station. Flash-forward a couple of seasons, and that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. This is the show that broke the Star Trek mould, filled with flesh-and-blood human beings (even if they were aliens), character arcs that frequently stretched over the course of seasons, groundbreaking storytelling and complex characters. Some complained early on that this station-bound show didn't go anywhere – but really, this was the Trek that truly went where none had gone before.

Funny story, I attended college in my early thirties and the first day a boy asked if he could sit at my table in the campus diner. I could see he was right out of high school but he obviously mistook me for much younger than my age. He was flirting with me and looking to find common interests to talk about. He mentioned Star Trek and I said I'm a long time fan. He liked that and began to mention different characters and episodes. At some point I mentioned "I grew up on Star Trek, been hooked since I was a kid." A look of confusion crossed his face and he said which generation and I said the original with Captain Kirk & Spock. His face flushed and he realized that series was on way before he was born. He had done the math and concluded he was hitting on a woman old enough to be his mother.   :classic_laugh:
