Binge watching is becoming very common. Writers have to keep episodes engaging for a full-season binge, not just for weekly viewing. Does this change in watching habit also changing storytelling quality? Which shows did you binge watched recently, and believe it was worthy of binge watching? Do you prefer weekly drops, or do you want an entire season available at once?
I think binge watching has changed storytelling some shows have slower pacing because they know you'll keep watching, while weekly releases build more anticipation and discussion. Recently binged Breaking Bad (finally) and it was absolutely worth it couldn't stop. But I actually prefer weekly drops for shows I'm really into because it lets you digest episodes and theorize with others.
I have written a few movie scripts (shelved in my drawer), and based on my limited experience in writing script and a lot of experience in watching movies and TV shows, I can imagine how difficult it can be to write a script that will continue to hook audience that like to binge watch.
No, quite the opposite, they make you more productive because they give you more ideas, but of course, this depends on each person. In your case, if this happens to you, then you shouldn't binge-watch series.
