Loneliness and isolation both contribute to adverse health consequences. Research has shown that people who are lonely or feel isolated have increased risks for chronic disease, cognitive decline, an inability to perform daily living tasks, and an early death. But loneliness and isolation are two distinct problems — and it's possible to have one and not the other. An observational Harvard study published September 2023 in SSM–Population Health sought to find out if one problem might be more dangerous than the other. Researchers analyzed the health data of almost 14,000 people (ages 50 or older) who were followed for four years. Both loneliness and isolation were associated with poor health outcomes. But social isolation (living alone or not spending time with family and friends) was a stronger predictor of physical decline and early death. Loneliness was more predictive of mental health issues, such as depression or feeling that life had no meaning. The bottom line: Both loneliness and isolation matter and fuel each other. You can fight them by making an effort to stay connected to others. And if you feel lonely, whether or not it's because you're isolated, it might be time to seek guidance from your doctor.

The greatest harm that loneliness ans isolation does is to the mental health of a person that is going through that. Humans were never meant to be isolated or lonely. We are social creatures by design. And anyone who for one reason or the other decides to isolate himself or herself would suffer adverse effects on their mental health, no matter how much they try to pretend.

With loneliness, it can be corrected easily if the person is open to making friends. Even if it's not very close friends, maybe online friends, it will solve the problem of being lonely. But isolation is very bad. Most people isolate when they are depressed.

Loneliness is basically a state of mind, you can feel lonely even when you are in a crowd and could feel crowded, even when you are alone. Isolation is a lack of social life.Isolation is a condition but loneliness isn't. Isolation is worse.

Loneliness can be cured, but isolation is something. When you isolate, you are bothered by something that is not suitable for your mental health. As humans, we need connections. And if you are lonely, dance as if nobody is watching you.

I think the problem is the kind of people that are around you. If you're with the right people who matters, there's no way you will feel lonely.
I think you might have misunderstood what I was saying... I'm not actually feeling lonely or anything like that. I was just answering the question that was asked..

I feel lonely when I am alone, which is why I dislike such feeling. It disrupts my mood. I mostly experience this when my family is on vacation, leaving me alone at home for some days. Thankfully, there are dramas on YouTube that console my loneliness.
